FACE Office Staff - Director and Secretary

 

Luis. D. Gonzales, Jr., currently serves as the Director of the Family and Community Engagement Department. He is a product of San Benito Schools, a Class of 1983 graduate of San Benito High School, and attended Texas Southmost College, the University of Texas at Austin, and UT Rio Grande Valley.

 

Luis leads a staff of seventeen (17) parent specialists, five (5) attendance officers, and one department secretary. Luis supervises the Title I Family Engagement Services, Student Attendance, the McKinney Vento Homeless Grants, Foster Care Student Services, and the District Parent and Community Volunteer Program. 

 

During his twenty-four-year tenure with San Benito CISD, Luis has been an administrator for the 21st Century After-School Program and a former Disciplinary Hearing Officer. Aside from his Director's duties, he is a member of the Superintendent's Advisory Committee (SAC), and Superintendent's Scholarship Golf Tournament Committee. He has coordinated many district-wide events including the Back to School Fair, Autism Awareness Events, and the Round Up the Hounds Spring Event.

 

Luis is currently a member of the City of San Benito Civil Service Board and a former United Way of Northern Cameron County Board Member and Past President. 

 

You can always spot Luis at school and community events during his free time. He is an avid Greyhound Supporter of all athletic sports and fine arts programs and reminds everyone that his family has been active Greyhound season ticket holders since 1974. 

 

Luis is also the proud halftime show announcer for the San Benito High School Mighty Greyhound Band.

He closes each halftime show with his signature motto.....
