SBCISD frequently reviews all safety protocols and emergency plans in collaboration with the Texas School Safety Center, local law enforcement, and Cameron County Emergency.  Our gold standard district school safety committee has input from San Benito CISD Police Department, San Benito CISD Educators, local and federal law enforcement agencies, San Benito CISD Counselors, and Cameron County Emergency Management to create a safe learning environment for our students and staff. 

Infrastructure:

  • State compliance with all school campus fencing 
  • All campus traffic actively monitored 
  • Security guard shacks at San Benito High School and Veterans Memorial Academy
  • Updated fencing for several campuses          
 

Exterior and Interior Doors Controlled Access:

  •      All SBCISD schools have all exterior and interior doors are locked at all times.
  •     Campus visitors verify their purpose of visit prior to entering the campus using a camera access control.
  •      San Benito schools have exterior doors with access controls installed
  •     Panic devices are installed for all campuses to notify our SBCISD Police Department of an emergency on their campus.
 
Cameras:
  • All San Benito schools have interior and exterior cameras being monitored through San Benito CISD Police Department.
  • All San Benito schools are constantly being recorded.
 
First Responders:
  • All local fire, EMS, and police have access to any San Benito district facility
  • San Benito Fire and Police in conjunction with San Benito CISD Police have access to maps and emergency plans for San Benito CISD.
 
Safety Screening:
  • San Benito CISD utilizes Raptor technology program to screen all visitors to each campus. 
 
Raptor Technologies Alert:
  • San Benito CISD utilizes Raptor Alert to allow our campus staff to initiate an emergency alert via a cell phone or web browser
  • Each campus administrator has access to maintain state mandated emergency drills through Raptor drill manager
