Yesterday, district and high school administrators met to discuss the feasibility of an outdoor commencement ceremony that would comply with Governor Greg Abbott’s executive orders and guidelines related to public health. The decision was made to hold the San Benito High School Class of 2020’s commencement ceremony on Friday, June 12, 2020, at 7:30 PM at Bobby Morrow Stadium. The inclement weather (“rain delay”) plan is to hold the ceremony on Saturday, June 13, at 9:00 AM.
To ensure the safety and health of our graduates, staff and guests, specific restrictions and protocols are currently being outlined. The district will provide all graduates and their families with the information once all the details have been determined. Unfortunately, due to the fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, these plans are subject to change.
“We thank our Seniors and their parents for their patience as we considered the most feasible and safe plan to publicly recognize our SBHS Class of 2020 graduates,” explained Dr. Nate Carman, Superintendent of Schools. “It has been an honor to have guided your children through their public school journey as well as through this unprecedented time,” he added.
