Vargas, Weaver and Silva administered Oath of Office

Three trustees, including Michael A. Vargas, who won his re-election bid to the Place 1 seat and newly-elected trustees, including Place 2 trustee Sonia Weaver and Place 3 trustee Janie G. Silva, are shown being administered the Oath of Office during a Special Board Meeting on Monday evening while surrounded by family and friends.

Cameron County Judge Migdalia Lopez of the 197th District Court administered the Oath of Office to Vargas; Cameron County Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, Place 1 Jesus (Chuy) Garcia, Jr. administered the Oath of Office to Weaver; and Cameron County Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, Place 2 David Garza administered the Oath of Office to Silva.

During the reorganization of the board officers, fellow trustees selected Vargas to serve as president, Angel Mendez as vice-president and M.L. Garcia as secretary.

Members of the Mariachi Del Sol, under the direction of instruction Karina Vela and Avigái González, provided entertainment during a reception held in their honor.
