McKinney-Vento Resources & Support

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a federal law designed to ensure educational rights and protections for children and youth experiencing homelessness. The McKinney-Vento Act guarantees the right to a free and appropriate public education for students experiencing homelessness. Under this law, students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence are entitled to specific educational services and supports to help them succeed in school. The law recognizes that homelessness can present significant barriers to students' education, and it aims to remove these barriers.

This page provides important resources, information, and support to families, students, and educators about McKinney-Vento rights and services available at SBCISD.
