The Handprint Project was a community service project aimed at raising abuse awareness within the community and reinforcing the idea that help can be attained. The students of the San Benito Animation club felt that abuse within the community was a tragic topic that most choose to ignore. They participated in a weeklong event to inform both students of the high school and members of the community of some of the attrocities that occur on a daily basis. Below are two Public Service Announcements that were created to help inform the public about abuse and ways to seek help. |

| A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds. By the time this PSA has ended, 3 cases of child abuse will have been made. This PSA encourages the public to end the cycle of child abuse and provides the Texas Abuse Hotline to call if they or someone they know is being abused. |

According to dating violence statistics, 75 percent of Texas teens have reported experiencing dating abuse or knowing someone who has; and 1-in-2 Texas teens reported having experienced dating violence or abuse personally. (Equation Research 2006 for the Texas Council on Family Violence) This PSA focuses on dating violence and informs the public of the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline and website. |
