Job Classification Reviews
October 18, 2017
SBCISD Faculty and Staff,
As you’re all aware, SBCISD recently completed the implementation of a new, comprehensive compensation plan with guidance from the Texas Association of School Boards. Raises and adjustments to compensation were prevalent throughout this plan and I’m hopeful most of you have realized an increase in salary commensurate with your position. We’re thankful to TASB for all of their hard work and guidance throughout this process. The structure and normed comparisons have been instrumental in developing an overall compensation plan that makes SBCISD competitive and rewards our employees.
You are also all aware that I was not SBCISD superintendent when this process was taking place. We have recently amended the district organization chart, changed some titles, and reworked the central office structure in an effort to provide a higher level of support to the campuses in order to focus on improving student achievement. With the SBCISD Board of Trustees’ support, we will review the final pieces of the compensation plan internally to provide a local context and exercise local control over the compensation plan. Moving forward, any adjustments will follow a thorough review by my office and subsequent approval by the SBCISD Board of Trustees.
I understand some of you are awaiting appeal decisions on titles, pay grades, etc. I would ask for your patience as I begin this local, internal, review process.
Nate Carman, Ed.D.
