District personnel serve as United Way representatives

Luis D. Gonzales, Jr. of the school district’s Parental Engagement Department and Lali Betancourt of the Gateway to Graduation Academy recently attended the 2018 United Way of Northern Cameron County Campaign Kickoff and Awards Luncheon. Gonzales, who serves as the United Way president and Betancourt, who serves on the organization’s board of directors, will spearhead the San Benito CISD workforce campaign efforts.

Utilizing local volunteers, the United Way is entering the 65th year of service and celebrates success with events and services such as “Day in the Park,” through which every child receives a new book for the summer; the Popstar Reading Program; and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) project.
