Marrero were selected to participate in the 2012 Texas Boys State program June 3-8 at the University of Texas at Austin. The purpose of the program is to teach students about the functions of the American government through first-hand experience in student committees.

San Benito High School Class of 2013 seniors, from left, Danielle Diaz, CeciliaGonzales and Anahi Garza have been selected to participate in the American Legion Auxiliary Bluebonnet Girls State at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.  The event will be held June 10-16, with participants taking part in scheduled programs designed to help improve the leadership skills needed to run the political world.  This program consists of the creation of a “mythical state,” where the participants will create their own governments, city, county, and state.  These students will obtain a full understanding of the workings of the political world.
